How AdBlock Atlas researches privacy tools
Our job is to make product decisions clearer without inventing testing, inflating certainty, or hiding how the site is funded.
Editorial method
For factual product claims, we prefer first-party documentation: official feature pages, support articles, pricing pages, terms, and platform listings. We use reputable independent reviews as secondary context, especially for market positioning or third-party testing.
What we do not claim
Unless an article explicitly documents a hands-on test method and results, we do not claim that our editors installed, benchmarked, or personally experienced the product. Research-based evaluation is labeled as such.
How we make recommendations
We compare tools using criteria relevant to the buyer: blocking scope, supported platforms, browser compatibility, setup friction, bypass controls, VPN integration, pricing model, and meaningful limitations. A product can be strong for one use case and weak for another.
How we keep facts current
Pricing and software features change. Commercial pages show an update date, and volatile claims are tied to source links. We prioritize corrections to existing pages over creating near-duplicate URLs.
Funding
Some links are affiliate links. If a reader purchases through one, AdBlock Atlas may earn a commission. The relationship is disclosed near commercial recommendations and does not change the evaluation criteria.
Corrections
When we discover an outdated or unsupported claim, our standard is to correct the page, update the modification date, and preserve the distinction between source facts and editorial inference.
